Palm Springs and Joshua Tree use to be one of those places I considered sleepy town stop-overs whenever I was in town to attend the Coachella festivals back in the day. The Socal scenery since The Rat pack's reign, has long kept its quiet slow-paced life style until recent years. In all its glorious revival, the desert landscape is now flourished with boutique hotels, stylized mid-century Air BNB homes to rent, bars, hip eateries, and vintage shop havens — it's the perfect 2 hour get-away for local Angelenos whatever the agenda is.

I had the pleasure of being invited to go BTS on a creative trip with a group of kick-ass women doin' their thang. All really dope creatives that have a great following and working on their own individual exciting projects. The inspiration for the trip was inspired by Gucci's epic S/S 16' Spring Presentation and all things 70s that's currently trending. How could it not, it's so so so good and never gets old in my book.

On board we had digital influencer and photographer Sisilia Piring shooting the editorial. Creative direction was headed by Los Angeles based stylist Jillian CainghugFormation's lead makeup artist Mel Daniels was there to help bring all the looks to life with Koh Gen Do and Anastasia cosmetics. Prop stylist Aneta Florcyzk  who regularly works on Restoration Hardware set designs was on hand to create a groovy background drop. Wardrobe was provided by Black Lodge Vintage and modeled by the shop owner Bobbi Wall.

Our home for the next couple of days was a quirky and eclectic home situated at the top of Joshua Tree. When we walked in we took notice of the appropo sign that hung on the wall that read, "Keep Joshua Tree Weird." A room with gorgeously colored stained windows was one of the focal points for the editorial. The outside had gorgeous views of mountains, Joshua Trees (duh), and the property we stayed on had random outside decor spread throughout like two lonely beat up white tipped-over chairs, and a pink vintage car out in front.

The trip was bred out of the focused talents of each individual of the trip in conjunction with the beautiful nostalgic desert scenery that only belongs to Joshua Tree. There was hardly any time for play, and it was truly a woman on a mission sort of deal. Stylist Cainghug was influenced by the differing clothing and interior styles of the 70s, while Model Bobbi stepped into the role of  SoCal housewife very naturally. Sisilia was great at directing the scene while snapping away to capture the perfect moment. I could see how her dictational skills have landed her campaigns for Givenchy, Burberry, Nylon Mag, and the like.

All in all, we shot some cool pics, played dress-up, we worked, drank whiskey in between, and connected in that girl power way without really knowing each other in the first place. These sort of trips, though brief will be one of those life-time memories you never forget. I was happy to be the quiet observer that I naturally am to live in the happy moments and also capture a time I'm sure to revisit over and over.

Can't wait to see the published photos from Sisilia. Stay close for the published editorial coming soon.
